Gaming, Music, and Writing. Why I love them all.
Posted: Fri, Feb 17 2012 at 10:53pmFirst off, thanks for the interest in my blogs! Second, lately I've been debating over several things. The main thing being what I'm going to be doing for about the next 50 years of my life. As you probably know, the retirement age in the U.S. is 66 to 68. This means that high school graduates usually have to decide what they're going to go to college for, and by extension, have as a career within 2 or 3 years, or face getting stuck at dead-end jobs they're going to hate. The main thing is for me, I don't want to be the guy who sits behind a desk and hates getting up to go to work. Cliche as it is, I want to get up and be excited to present an idea or discuss something really cool. Problem is, that's not what this blog is really about. Sorry. The main thing this blog is about is why I'm being so indecisive: I have too many things I like to do.
I'll start with writing, my most recent. Writing, I feel, really gives you the ability to take a situation or a personality and turn it into whatever you want. Not just that, either, it also allows you to send a very specific message or emotion to someone who has never met you before. Or make them rethink something they've been sure of for years. Or drop a bomb on them they'll never forget. Do you get what I mean yet? To me, that's absolutely amazing. Problem is, I often get writing blocks that take me forever to get past.
Second, let's go to Music. Not much more to add here, as much of it is the same as writing. Except with music, I can do the same thing and make it to a rhythm and make it shorter so you get it stuck in your head.
Finally, and yes this was intentional ;), GAMING! I think gaming would be a great place to go because no longer do you have to sit down and put who knows how long into silently reading. No longer do you have to like the right genre and find some time to listen. No longer are you just seeing or hearing. All of a sudden, you're seeing, hearing, doing everything in the game. If it's done just right, the player isn't playing a game, and they aren't learning a story, they're experiencing everything you're trying to convey. And once they're done, they can tell and talk to their friends about it, have a good time with it, and enjoy it for a long time.
Now, you may be sensing a pattern here, and maybe I am a bit of a control freak, but aren't we all? :) Right? O.O Right?! *silence*
Thanks for reading guys, hope you enjoyed it! Post in the comments why you love gaming, I've showed it above!
