I will be competing in my first half marathon on the 20th March and this will be my longest race since I started running in May last year.
I have spent the last three months training for it, up to three times a week. Tuesday nights interval reps, Wednesday night short but fast runs (around 4 to 5 miles at 8 to 8.5 minutes miles and lastly, Sundays with the long slow runs around 9.5 minute miles up to 11 miles.
My target time is just 2 hours and if I do manage this time then I will be over the moon. I will need to run at about 9 minute miles to do this and this is going to be a big ask for me.
I am not a fast runner, spend most of time in other sports like footy and golf and was a smoker for 20 years. Not had a single puff since June last year mind.
So if your reading this, please wish me luck. I am going to need it.
