Kids Say the Darndest Things

The other day I tried to sneak out to chat with the neighbor lady. "Sneak out" meaning escape for a moment without the kids, husband, cats, dogs, etc.
Of course I was caught in the act, and the battle began.
"Mommy I wanna come with you please please please."
I respond with, "none of us are dressed to be out, your hair isn't combed, I'm just going over for a second, I'll be right back."
And the battle continued, "but Mommy I wanna go too." (here come the tears)
As calmly and softly as possible I said, "but honey, you look like caca."
And with his little five year old, slightly speech impaired voice he says, "so do you."
The battle ended.
