Is another place I can tick off and if I am honest, it is just that 'a tick' nothing more.

I found my recent visit their fairly uninteresting, water cold, hotel had too many children and of course with our current economy it was far too expensive and that is not something us Brits have ever said about these Spanish islands before. At least the hotel seemed to be taking advantage as prices were much better elsewhere, as they often are I suppose.

Here is Menorca in relation to Europe

The hotel was very nice indeed and has some great reviews. It is clear now this is a family hotel hence the children but even so, I have never seen so many children on a plane and they can't have all gone to Hotel Viva Menorca but it seemed like they did. To say my wife and I were the only couple cannot have been far from the truth.

Currently the euro is pretty much a 1 for 1 to the pound but why the hotel can justify 2.15 Euros for a small bottle of water when I can get a pint of beer elsewhere for 2.50 is beyond me. Comments of being robbed and Dick Turpin were not uncommon whispers from around the pool. Ah the lovely pool, the pool that has not enough sun beds to visitors. How depressing is that?

A large part of my holidays in the sun are so I can continue my hobby of diving (SCUBA). Currently trained to Advanced open water but with only 47 dives under my belt I consider myself a novice. No training can substitute experience.

Diving was supplied by Bluewater. As you would expect, they were welcoming and helpful. Kirsten and Martin did all they can to assure our time with them was enjoyable and if I were to go back to Menorca, I would dive with them again.

Sadly the water was cold. Even though the surface was between 25° and 30° the water was much colder and for those that know, heat loss from the body whilst underwater is much greater than that above so after an hour of diving, i'd had enough. Even after 45 minutes i'd had enough. I managed 3 dives and skipped the night dive.

The week away was well needed and pleasantly warm and as there are plenty of other places to go to, I don't think I will be visiting Menorca again anytime time soon.
