This mod was added this season to help prevent assaults and to make the ref's job a little easier. You must be at a range of ten for your shots to be lethal-which basically prevents someone from "dropping down to your spot out of nowhere and killing you." We've had lots of complaints about moves like this.

If this mod is proving to be more of a crutch than a help to this ladder, please post your thoughts and vote whether to keep or get rid of the mod. Thanks ahead of time for your thoughts.

// EDIT: I've unstickied and unannouncemented because of a forum clean-up BUT it automatically added the poll up again, this poll is VOID now, results were:
- Keeping the ladder, 13 votes;
- Remove the mod, 9 votes;
= Indifferent, 3 votes.

I wont play this ladder with this mod on, camping doesnt mean not moving at all, there is a camping in the extreme ladder for the ppl who like that sort of thing, close kills happen without it being assault there are refs there to watch for the assaults, please get rid of this awful mod

This is a 'No Close-kill' mod set at 3 and a half meters, not a 'no-run' mod. This mod has no affect on movement. It's intent was more to help the refs because, let's face it, 2 refs and 10 players means that there is a lot of time a ref isn't watching any one player during a match.

At this time, the only restricting mods on this ladder are the SID and this 'No close-kill' mod.

The main problem i have with this mod is that it can be abused, it is very possible to get yourself a spot which isn't hiding by definition but since the no close kill mod is on, you can only be shot from 1 or 2 places.
You can use the no close kill mod as sudo wall basically. I must say, DIE16 had great fun running right up to XT nice and close. He is very huggable you know!

Players are more important than rules.

Exactly we played a match against a team with this mod on their server and when they were in the lead by a couple of frags near the end of the match they just camped close to our players and wouldnt move, will the refs be penalising this sort of thing? if so then its just even more for the refs to do

Pro's - Makes the ref's job easier, means less people can shout about hunts or close revenge.

Con's - it can be used against players... for instance if someone comes to your spot, and your team is 1 frag behind you should be able to kill them.. however they can just sit next to you to avoid being shot.

This ladder doesn't need the mod, maybe the extreme ladder but not this... i can see this creating more problems than benifits and believe the few teams left may leave or not have enough willing players..

there was a reason the 5v5 ladder was so popular before, but each season things change and mean more and more teams are leaving, soon there will be only 5 teams playing each other all the time.

this mod is going to be abused. especially on maps like dogtown?

there are only 10 players to ref... which is 5 each or less if more refs are about, if you sign up to be a ref you should be prepared to do your job properly and not for the mods to do it for you

I dont play this ladder because our team belongs to two other ladders and I just dont have the time to play matches all the time, along with admin duties, and trying to play UT. It was also up to the majority of our team to decide. Just cause I dont have time, doesnt mean others dont.

Thanks for giving folks the opportunity to vote and express opinions.

Just wondering if anyone has actually read the rules pertaining to this topic. Your opponent CAN NOT sit next to you and is obligated to leave and find another sniper spot. I just wanted to point that out real quick. The poll is open for 14 days, please continue the discussion. Also, "chance meetings" are still very much possible, I witnessed this in a match I reffed this weekend.

What I am about to type are MY opinions only and may not represent those of the rest of my clan.....This is the way I see it: Euro players in THIS ladder like the dodge on and dont want the close kill....and the US players just the opposite. May I suggest that the 2 groups have 2 seperate ladders and then do a semi play-off type championship? A double elimination tournament consisting of the top 4 teams from each at the end of the season?? Dont know if that is possible or not but its this type of bickering back and forth that made me lose interest in this ladder, and I have no plans to return to it as long as it continues. I say let the Head Admins do what they do in the best interest of the ladder and the teams that want to play by their rules will be in this ladder and those who don't will find somewhere else to play!

Again in closing....MY opinion not my Clan's opinion!!!!
