Scannable QR Codes integrated
Subject: Scannable QR Codes integrated
* A QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response code) is a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) with fast readability and comparatively large storage capacity. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be made up of four standardized kinds ("modes" ) of data (numeric, alphanumeric, byte/binary, Kanji), or by supported extensions virtually any kind of data.[source: Wikipedia]

What is it used for?
* Not too long ago, Android integrated QR Codes as an application for Address Book transfer. Other websites, such as mobil application sharing, already enjoys this integration in their sites for application downloads from PC monitor (or laptop, mobil phones, ipad or anything with a screen) to their mobil phones (cell phones for Americans)! The bottom line is that it is used for data transfer, application download and many other of which I have yet to investigate!
What can FN use it for?
* At first, as the usage can be expanded as we investigate it more, it can be used to redirect members (and nonmembers) where ever we want them to go. Likewise, I have to study this (help if you can confirm or unconfirm this), it can be used as if we literally clicked on a website button such as a registration.
What?
Let me attempt to explain! We start an event. To redirect viewers to the event we provide a Scannable QR Code. Behind that Scannable QR Code lays the url that leads to the SIGN UP. When "someone" scans that QR Code, it acts as if they clicked on the SIGN UP button with their mouse.
Why do we need this?
Let's face it! Times have changed. 90% of the emails I get from DBLDeathDealer states that he sent it through his iPhone. People move around a lot and don't always have time nor a way to get to their own PC. With this feature we are giving members, and others, a chance to sign up (or whatever) with a simple scan.
Imagine this!
(Without QR Code Version)
You hold a "friend get together party" at your house. 90% of your friends are your gaming buddies. You slip away for a minute and check FraggedNation.com only to find out you missed the announcement (wondering why) and that night is the LAST night that you can sign up before it closes. You quickly sign up... what about your buddies? So you run back and tell them about it. They are a bit drunk (I am sure they are all at legal age *coughs*) and can't go home to sign up... besides... the party is awesome! So you let each of them sign up with your PC.
The event starts... TheRealLP runs an IP coincidence check and sees that 17 participants signed up using the same IP and decides to disqualify all of them for possible multi-accounts.
Imagine this!
(With QR Code Version)
Same as above. Only this time they all have QR Code scanners in their mobil phones and they each scan the QR Code. Every one of them sings up for the event with their own IP and everyone happy.
Here is a beautiful example of how the QR Codes are used for plenty of things!
By the way... If anyone has a QR Scanner... scan this to view my new website (under construction)
So in short, as far I understand, the QR-code is used as an url. I would fully support this idea if it's worked out more.
Concerns: Can we 'make' our own QR's?
This would suit for events you might read about on FN's Facebook with your mobile phone.
For example, on FN's Twitter or Facebook, this QR gets posted that directs to this website: http://www.fraggednation.com/content.php?k=gftc_charity_event
This would, I think, work best at street advertisement: When you're waiting for your public transportation and you have nothing better to do.

It's interesting, yes. I think it's mostly used in advertisement (as of now, maybe in the future this will change) to direct customers to an url. Please watch the "first" video as it gives you at least 21 usage for the QR codes! You will see that it isn't used just for advertisements!

You can actually make QR Codes to pull up TWITTER and prepopulate it with a tweet!Seriously... watch the video... it gives us great ideas!
Like it was mentioned in the original post. It's fast and functions like a link (whether to an app or a URL).
I would support this you can make your own QR Codes and share them over FB or Twitter's image sharer. And anyone could scan it. I got a Android device this week and have been trying to check FN with it more than anything.
We really need to try to jump to mobile as much as possible. That might just be the only way to capture the rest of the competitive gamers out there.
