The following thread is meant to help you better understand what the ladder king (also known as crown holder) is all about on our ladders here at FraggedNation.
The Ladder King is awarded to the first player to win a match on a ladder. The importance of the ladder king is that it is not based on position but who you beat. If you beat the player that currently has the crown, you will automatically be awarded the image. It does not matter your place on a ladder.
So, for example, if the 19th place player challenges the 2nd Place player (current ladder king) then the 19th place player will be awarded the ladder king or crown holder recognition.
You can easily tell who the ladder king or crown holder is by looking for the following image:
