UT3 GREED Ladder open for challenges
Topic: UT3 PC 6 v 6 GREED
Posted By: Chaotic_Cannon
Thats right,
The GREED ladder is now open for challenges. The min team size to put a team on the ladder is 4, but most teams will be playing around the 6v6 size matches.
There are currently 4 teams, with another 2 to 3 teams still assembling rosters to jump on as well.
For new people to FN ladders, please see the map list for the ladder and the ladder rules. They can be found here:
http://www.fraggednation.com/standings/pc/unreal-tournament-3/UT3-PC-6-v-6-GREED-1211
Click the "details" tab and you can see the ladder settings, the server settings required, the map lists and the ladder rule lists.
All those things are to make sure things stay smooth running throughout the season.
Lets all have some fun. There is a split between the VCTF and CTF maps, as well as there are 4 customs maps as well, so there will be the most common maps for everyone to choose from.
Hope you all have fun.

Other topics Covered in meeting:
Team Sizes during Match:
If both teams have extra players come match time, then they are free to increase the size of the team as long as both teams have equal sizes in game. i.e. 7v7, 8v8, etc.
Ladder Time Limit for team to Accept/Decline challenge:
The setting was originally set at no maximum time. This meant that a team could indefinitely either miss a challenge by mistake or ignore it on purpose as to not incur a penalty. This would mean the challenging team was stuck and not able to play other teams until the first challenge was responded too.
After team input this number was changed to 72 hours (3 days). This means that if a challenge is made on a Friday (and the team captains are away all weekend), they have until Monday to accept or decline the challenge. This way if a challenge is ignored, the team can continue and challenge another team.
If the team does not respond to a challenge after the 3 days it is an auto decline.
Challenge out hours:
The number of hours in advance a challenge could be made. This is set at 12 hours. This means if Team A makes a challenge at 8 am in the morning, the earliest time that match can take place is 8 PM that same day. This is to stop short notice challenges in an attempt to cause the other team to receive a penalty to declining a challenge.
Of course if two teams can agree verbally to have a match earlier they can play the match and report it later.
Declines Allowed:
This is the number of challenge declines a team is allowed in a 7 day period before they incur a penalty. This means that can not continuously decline a challenge time after time on purpose just so they do not have to play certain teams.
Originally it was set at 3. After team discussion it was changed to 2. So a team can have 3 days to accept or decline a challenge. Then if they do decline, they have 1 more remaining decline allowed. Once a team surpasses the 7 day declines, they are subjected to a forfeit loss penalty.
Note: If one team continuously gets challenged over and over by a particular team for the same time and even though they declined the first time, they remade the same challenge on purpose to cause the challenged a penalty, then teams are required to submit a ticket on the incident.
Challenges:
It was mentioned to the team captains that the team that MAKES the challenge will get the benefit of the SERVER CHOICE. This is to encourage YOUR team to be proactive and make a challenge BEFORE another team does.
There are instances when the team being challenged may not be able to play on the server that was picked. That team must then REQUEST a change to another server and state the reasons why.
If a team does not want to play on the challenger picked server and instead of requesting a change they decline the challenge and remake the same challenge for the same day and time but change the server to a choice of their own choice (in order to gain the advantage of being on their own clan server) can be subject to having the challenge either deleted or edited by an admin to re-instate the original server choice. Again, the team to make the challenge gets benefit of server location and if the challenged team can not play on that server, they are to state valid reasons for it and request a change.
For example, if a challenge was made by team A from the USA in California and challenged Team B from Europe and they chose a server in LA, then Team B can request a server change to a server in Eastern Europe (often UK or similar) or an EAST coast US server. Both teams will then compromise to play.
However if Team A picks a clan server in Dallas and team B requests a change to their clan server in Chicago since they don't like the "server settings." Team A can either accept or decline the change since there is no compromise for both teams, just for the one team to gain more advantage over the other.
If BOTH teams can not resolve on which server to use for the match, then both teams may be asked to play on the donated FN UT3 server for the match. The FN server is considered NEUTRAL ground and neither team or clan has control of it.
Ticket System - this was only touched on during meeting and was not gone into in any great detail, but I will talk about it here so people know about the ticket system more:
The ladders are designed for fair and fun play. Sometimes there are technical issues with servers, maps, trouble between teams prior to matches, a player being abusive in the forums or PM's or in game, a team abusing the ladder settings to try and cause another team to receive a penalty, etc.
In such instances that a Team or player finding a tech issue, or on the receiving end of abuse or anything else requiring action then please use the ticket system.
The ticket system is located under the "My Account" page. (http://www.fraggednation.com/account.php?action=showMenu) Under this page you will see the white icon with 2 tickets as the graphic and the name is support ticket.
Please enter as many details as possible and all tickets are sent to the Ladder/game or head admin. Then each admin has access to review the situation and provide comments and look into the situation. If the ticket requires actions above our access level then we can increase the ticket level and can have the global admins review it.
If a team or player has a problem with an admin, the ticket system is accessible by all the admins and you can provide details and the admin will be reviewed.
Other topics noted in meeting:
Player Game names and Fraggednation names.
is commonly known.
Currently the season is set to run Until July 31th. At that point trophies will be awarded (in FN) to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.
Then there will be a tournament that will take place over 1 or 2 weekends and the teams will be ranked in the tournament based upon their rankings in the ladder.
Suggestions made by team captains:
- Possibility of having each clan/team pick 2 tie breaker maps to have in the "Pool" of tie breaker maps for matches. Then when the matches are set up, the system could draw from the "Pool" of tiebreaker maps only and not the full map list.
Also teams are reminded to continue to challenge and keep the ladder and matches going. Admin will try and send out reminders more often to keep teams going with challenges.
This is everything that I had written down. There may be 1 or 2 things I missed but I think this is most of the items covered.

Should we add a 1v1 Euro Ladder?
Topic: UT3 1v1 Duel Season 1
Posted By: drjacobs
We would like to take a poll if there is enough interest to start a Euro Ladder that runs at the same time as the US ladder. We would then have US vs Euro at the end of the season after the Season 2 playoffs.
Some people overseas stopped playing or never signed up because hard to schedule with US players because of time difference and some Euro players don't want to play on US servers and some US players don't want to play on Euro servers. There are only about 5 to 10 Euro players on the current ladder and only a couple that are active.
We would like input on why we should start a Euro ladder, will there be enough interest, and what other servers we could use besides Fragzone Duel London.

UT3 1v1 Ladder passes 200 matches played
Topic: UT3 1v1 Duel Season 1
Posted By: Chaotic_Cannon
Hi everyone,
We have just passed the 200 matches played in the 1v1 ladder since the end of April.
Well done everyone. Lets keep it up.
There are a few players that have played less than a handful of games. If you are new or have not played much, dont be shy and challenge some one yourself.... lots of great players and average players on the ladder and there is some one on there with your skill level.
There are also servers covering most of the us and 1 in the UK. There is a West cost (LA) 2 central (Chicago and Dallas) and 2 East Coast (Florida and NY) and a UK server so there is a server somewhere that can benefit your location.
Also in just a short period of time there will be the season 1 ending tournament. The higher ranked players will be squared off against each other and the mid level players in the ladder will be matched against each other. That way everyone will be in a tournament with similar skilled players. However you must play a few matches at least to meet the min number of required games to play in the end of season tournament. This is to make sure you get paired up accordingly.
Also there is another MAJOR tournament in the next few weeks that is separate from the ladder. I am not going to release many details until we get them ironed out but I suggest you get in as many games as you can between now and then as practice at least for the MAJOR tournaments in the near future.
Frag on!

Other topics noted in meeting:
Player Game names and Fraggednation names.
Some players have their normal game names, but use a variation or something different in FN and other forums.
Players are asked to use their NORMAL game name while
in matches. This is the name they are commonly known by in the community. The game name does not have to be 100% exact to the FN name as long as both teams are aware of whom the player really is.
For example, [BGE]Miss_Piggy (FN name) and [BGE]Honjunhu (game name) are the same person and this is commonly known.
If there is any doubt of whom a player is, then the TEAM CAPTAINS of each team are to come to an agreement BEFORE the match starts. If both agree on who the person is and the match starts with that person, then the issue is resolved. If the opposing team requests that the person log out (if showing an alias) and log back into the game under the normal game name, then it is expected for that person to comply. This is for fair play and sportsmanship.
Request that the season 1 of the ladder is not indefinite. Have a goal for the season to give incentives for the teams to keep playing.
Currently the season is set to run Until July 15th. At that point trophies will be awarded (in FN) to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.
Then there will be a tournament that will take place over 1 or 2 weekends and the teams will be ranked in the tournament based upon their rankings in the ladder.
More details on the first season will follow shortly.
Tutorial of how to navigate certain areas of FN. FN is full of visual enhancements but also has a lot of functions that take getting used to. A system to help people navigate is being worked on and hopefully will be released in the near future.

General Rules that all Teams need to Read.
Topic: UT3 PC 6 v 6 Warfare Season 1
Posted By: DOZ
There was a recent match where a player decided to change his name for the match. This is not allowed.
Team Capt it's your responsibility to know the Rules.
Please read the General Rules
http://www.fraggednation.com/rules.php
10. Ringing / Name Swapping
10.1 Players shall have only one account under the player's name used in the community most frequently. This will be enforced pragmatically by IP. Any duplicate entries will be reported to the head admins at 12:01 on the day of account creation via scheduled task. Players will only compete under the one account, and under the one name. Changing names for any reason, or playing under any other name could result in permanent banishment from ladder competition pending the situation.
10.2 Under NO circumstances will one player play AS another player for a scheduled official ladder match. In the event someone is found to be doing this (hereby referred to as ringing) they will be banned immediately from 1v1 play until the following season, and penalized 3 team matches on EACH ladder they are a participant of.
10.3 If you feel you have competed against someone ringing for an official ladder match, please inform an Admin so they can do a check of the server logs for IP addresses, and subsequent investigation. This needs to be done ASAP, to have the best & most current info available.
10.4 If a player is banned for misconduct for any reason and attempts to rejoin the ladders for competition until said ban is finished, it will result in a permanent IP level ban.
10.5 If a banned player is a team captain, they will be forced to add another captain to the roster and have themselves removed. Failure to do this could result in the team being removed from play until the situation is resolved.
10.6 In the event the same household / IP has 2 players (such as siblings or spouces) please notify a Head Admin of the situation to ensure the account does not get deleted.

FN UT3 PC ONS2 5v5 Ladder Info.
Topic: UT3 PC 5v5 ONS2
Posted By: DOZ
FN UT3 PC ONS2 5v5 being setup for those from 2k4 that want ONS
ONS 2.0 is a new gametype for Unreal Tournament 3. Its intent is to blend some classic features of Unreal
Tournament 2004's Onslaught gametype into Unreal Tournament 3's Warfare gametype. This was accomplished by
adjusting vehicles, player movement, and weapons to more closely resemble some aspects of UT2k4 Onslaught
and by bringing back 3 weapons not included in UT3.
Included with this new gametype are 9 maps that are remakes of the original stock UT2K4 ONS maps, as well
as 3 remakes of popular maps released and played in leagues, ladders, and tournaments for UT2K4 ONS.
Note: All current Warfare maps, stock and custom, will work with ONS 2.0. The hoverboard still functions, and
the orb still in but can be removed from any map.
** Manta **
- Engine sounds and radius have been increased.
- Improved manta teamskins.
- You can ride on top and on the wings of the manta as you could in UT2k4.
- Slightly reduced damage to other players and vehicles from manta fire.
** Hellbender **
- Rear gunner seat with charge indicator just like 2k4.
- Sounds from 2k4 including the la cucaracha horn
- Improved team skins.
- Suspension has been tweaked for smoother, less bouncy driving.
- Shock ball damage radius has been reduced to 3/4 of the stock setting.
** Scorpion **
- Reduced self destruct impact radius.
- New projectile with delayed damage on mantas and vipers: On impact, the projectiles do just a little
damage but the hover vehicle starts to spark and after a few seconds... kaboom! The more times it gets
hit, the faster it will blow but the driver will always have a second or two to bail out before it explodes.
- Suspension has been tweaked for smoother, less bouncy driving.
** Raptor **
- Lowered alt fire rate of fire.
- Increased handling maneuverability.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 NEW WEAPONS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
** Mine Layer Gun **
- Gun that spawns every 60 seconds that allows you to shoot mines in any location you desire, max ammo of 8
spidermines.
- Increased size of spidermines and gave them team colored skins that are bright enough to see in any environment.
** Bio Grenade Launcher **
- The bio rifle has been modified to act similar to the UT2K4 grenade launcher. The gun now shoots bio filled
grenades that explode when pressing alt fire.
- Grenades can be stuck to players and vehicles and can be detonated on demand.
** Lightning Gun **
- Similar in feel and function to the 2k4 lightning gun.
- Replaces all sniper rifles in maps.

New Rule! US/Canada/Mexico vs Europe/Asia/Australia
Topic: UT3 1v1 Duel Season 1
Posted By: drjacobs
Because there are many people overseas that want to participate in this ladder, and because UT3 community is small as it is we have decided to make a new rule when challenging people in a different continent to encourage fair play.
First, everyone has the right to refuse to play on a server with ping in the 200's. Second, if a match is between 2 people that are cross continent, then each player will pick a server to play on during their map pick. If a tiebreaker map is needed, then both parties will play the same random map twice on each server. The total score of the tiebreaker is the score that is reported. Third, all cross continent matches must be played on one of the 4 official servers listed because these servers are verified to have ping compensation maxed at 200. You may play on a custom server only if both parties agree, but beware there is no way of knowing if Ping Compensation has been increased to 200 on these servers.
Example 1:
Player 1 is from Arizona,US and Player 2 is from France. Player 1 challenges Player 2. Because they are both from different continents they each get to choose their server. Player 1 chooses Fragzone LA and Player 2 chooses Fragzone London. The first match is in LA server, but Player 2 (France) has a ping over 200. Thus, Player 1 is forced to pick a closer server for his map. He then chooses Fragzone Chicago. Player 2 has ping below 200 in chicago, so this is acceptable. Player 1 also has ping below 200 in London, so this is acceptable too.
After 2 rounds it is tied 1-1. Each player now plays tiebreaker map that was pre-selected by the system on each server. They count up score of both matches on tiebreaker map and report that score. Player 1 gets to play on his server first since he made the challenge.
Tiebreakers don't happen that often since most matches are determined after the first 2 maps. Also, playing someone with ping of say 190 is not as bad as it sounds. Ping correction has been moved up to 200 on all Fragzone servers and also East coast server just recently moved up to 200 ping. These matches do not lag as bad as you think.
Do not take any ones word that they ping over 200 on a server. Make them join the server so you can see for yourself. Then just go to another server if ping in 200's.
Example 2:
Sometimes you may need to play all matches on one server. Let's say Russian player challenges someone in California. The Russian player pings over 200 in LA and Chicago, and California player pings over 200 in London. In this case all matches will be played in East Coast NY duel server.
Remember, these rules only apply cross continent. When playing US vs US player it is same rules as before. Pick one server to play all matches.
