Bungie is notorious for taking cheating very seriously as they run around the map with the infamous banhammer. Players who have got their hands on the game in one form or another are already discovering ways to earn credits offline by using such tactics as rubberbanding the controller so that you can remain active in game overnight. While the amount of credits earned by cheating is nothing compared to the ones a player earns for playing legitimately, it can add up rather quickly.
Have no fear cheater haters, Bungie has our back and the servers are built to see these numb nuts who think they have out smarted the system. Here is a post from Bungie.net.
Some of you are playing Halo: Reach a little bit early. It happens. With millions of copies out of manufacturing quickly making their way into the massive global retail chain, it’s not terribly uncommon for a few discs to “accidentally” slip into a few lucky customers’ hands. Que sera.
If you count yourself among that lucky few, there are a handful of things you need to be aware of that will likely impact your pre-launch Halo: Reach experience. First, you’re playing in what we consider a test environment. Several key services are disabled, or in various states of fluctuating functionality, and core elements of the game, including big ticket items like matchmaking, credit acquisition, and the daily challenge system are all running at less than optimal levels.
In addition, any Credits you earn during this slim pre-Launch window are going to be summarily and systematically reset prior to launch. Don’t get too attached to any fancy new gear you might have already acquired. Consider any expenditures or investments you’ve made in the Armory the cost of doing business early. It’s nothing personal; we just want to make sure the playing field is kept nice and level upon launch. It's only fair.
On a similar note, I’ve been seeing some chatter about the prospect of mass quantity credit dumps that can be earned through offline play in various game modes. Some of the laziest among us are no doubt already plotting out their path of least resistance, thinking of ingenious new ways to rubber band a controller to achieve a Zen like state of ridiculous effortlessness.
Not so fast. When you escort your offline profile into the wonderful world of Xbox LIVE, our servers will identify your newly connected status and instantly notify you that our online credit scale operates on a completely different level. (That fizzle sound you’re hearing is probably your boosters running out of fuel in an oxygen starved environment. Don’t look down, RocketMan.)
If you choose to remain offline with your decked out profile, you get to keep your ducats and your duds with no questions asked. But should you opt to take this party online, your credits will be reduced significantly and any Armory items that you had previously earned (for which you no longer meet the minimum online credit or rank requirements) will be righteously revoked.
Of course, the credit reduction that occurs when you make the move into cyberspace is completely by design. For players without a connection to the outside world, the system is simply accelerating the credits being awarded to allow them to experience the Armory at a realistically achievable (but decidedly lonely) offline pace. For those who opt for a more social experience, the grind is a little more protracted, but still profoundly fun.
{parse block="storyblock"}It is always disheartning to pick up a game on midnight release and to hop online and see that you are already hours behind the leader because they had access to a game that you didn't. Thanks Bungie for doing all you can to keep the playing field level.

Kalypso and Haemimont Launch Invite-only Beta for "The First Templar"
Ridgewood, NJ, September 2, 2010 -- Kalypso Media and Haemimont Games are pleased to announce a closed beta test for their upcoming action-adventure game with RPG elements -- The First Templar. Gamers interested in helping test the Windows PC version of the game need to visit the link below to apply for an invite to the beta. The First Templar features furious cooperative combat set in Middle Ages Europe -- a time of darkness and encroaching evil. Players will take on the role of an honorable Templar and a brave noblewoman as they fight to restore order and their honor.
{parse block="storyblock"}In development by Haemimont Games, The First Templar is a co-operative action-role playing game in development for Xbox 360 and Windows PC. The game portrays a dark and gritty view of the late 13th century where old friends become enemies, corruption spreads throughout the Church and fallen knights oppress the weak and renounce their oaths. The First Templar follows the story of two main characters – a French Templar, and his companion, a noble lady who has been proclaimed a heretic. Taking control over these two unlikely allies, the player must uncover the mysteries behind the Templar Order, play a role in a grand conspiracy, and discover the secret of the Holy Grail. The heroes face powerful opponents at every turn, in the face of the Saracen, King Philip IV of France and the Inquisition.
The First Templar features both single player and co-op modes. When playing solo, the player can switch between the two characters, leaving the control of the second hero to the game’s AI. At any moment a second player can join in and take control of the AI controlled hero.
For more information about The First Templar, please visit www.kalypsomedia.com.
Were you thinking that the next Call of Duty installment would just be Modern Warfare 2 with more killstreaks and different maps? If that was your belief then you are sorely wrong. Last night Activision hosted a Black Ops multiplayer reveal that has the web buzzing today. There are several new features and BattleStrats is going to break down all of the news for you in one convenient location.
Need More Players Online - You Are Headed To Bootcamp
There is no denying that the Call of Duty series has a huge multiplayer community. It may surprise you to know that the developers learned that up to 30 - 40% of campaign players never try online. The first new mode you will find in Black Ops is Combat Training. Combat Training is a way to try and reel in those players who are timid to jump online. Combat Training allows players to play on multiplayer maps by themselves or with friends and face A.I. bots. The new mode also features its own standalone ranking system which gives players that crack addiction feeling. The mode promises to be helpful to both noobs and veterans of the series.
{parse block="storyblock"} Move over Youtube -
While we already knew that Black Ops was getting a recording system, it does look like the COD theatre will almost be just as indepth as the one featured in Halo 3. It's a great way for players to save, share, and browse great clips for plenty of montage fun.
Become the Perk - Stand Out From The Crowd
Perks are back, but this time around they affect how your character looks in game. Pick the Ghost Perk and your character is displayed in a ghillie suit - select scavenger and your character will be seen with lots of pouches on their outfit. Additionally players can customize their weapons and add their own personalized emblems by using an editor that is similar to the Forza editor. Players can even go as far as changing their red dot sight to a blue happy face.
Perks:
Perk 1
Lightweight - Move Faster (Pro)
Scavenger - Pick up ammo from fallen enemies. Replenish lethal grenades. (Pro)
Ghost - Undetectable by the Spy Plane and the Blackbird.
Flak Jacket - Reduces explosive damage.
Hardline - Killstreaks require 1 less kill.
Perk 2
Hardened - Bullets penetrate better.
Scout - Hold breath longer.
Steady Aim - Increased hip-fire accuracy.
Sleight of Hand - Faster reloads.
Warlord - Equip two attachments to your primary weapon.
Perk 3
Marathon - Longer sprint.
Ninja - Silent movement.
Second Chance - Pull out your pistol before dying.
Hacker - Ability to detect enemy equipment and explosives.
Tactical Mask - Reduces the effect of flash and concussion grenades.
It's All About The Benjamin's
The biggest change coming to Call of Duty Black Ops is the addition of money called CP. Instead of leveling up and unlocking guns, players will level up and unlock whole categories of weapons and attachments. Players can then use Call of Duty Points "CP" - to choose which weapons and attachments they wish to unlock. What's more fun than earning money and spending it? How about gambling it Vegas Style?
Last night Call of Duty Black Ops released a trailer showcasing the new Wager Matching where players can go in and gamble their earned CP. Place in the top 3 and you win your bet, place below the top 3 and you lose the CP wagered. There are so far 4 different wager modes you can play so far and the trailer below details those.
Additionally, players can now have "contracts". Players can take contracts out and try to accrue XP or CP and sometimes both. Think you can kill X number of players in X number of rounds? Take a contract, but if you lose - You lose whatever it cost you to accept the contract
{parse block="storyblock"} What's Missing?
Before the multiplayer reveal there were plenty of rumors circulating that a beta would be announced. Comments from the community director suggest that players may not see a public beta before the game is launched. Additionally there were no mentions of the popular Zombie Mode. When asked about the game mode - Josh Olin replied with "That's it." Of course game companies like to keep a few cards up their sleeves so we will see. Stopping Power and Juggernaut also look as though they have been removed from perks and finally - No Tactical Nuke on Killstreaks
Killstreaks
3 – Spy Plane
3 – RC-XD (remote bomb)
4 – Counter Spy Plane
4 – SAM Turret
5 – Care Package
5 – Napalm Strike
6 – Sentry Gun
6 – Mortar Team
7 – Attack Helicopter
7 – Valkyrie Rockets
8 – Blackbird
8 – Rolling Thunder
9 - Chopper Gunner
11 – Attack Dogs
11 - Gunship

Part 2
Tell us what your favorite reveal was about Black Ops
In a marketing strategy, EA plans on releasing several videos for single and multiplayer that are uncut and unedited. They hope that by doing this, they can show players exactly what they can expect on October 12th when the game releases. It will be interesting to see how it works in comparison to Black Ops, who has several videos that show quick snippets of game play in a montage. I think it is safe to say that the Black Ops marketing strategy is working and creating lots of hype over the game.
The latest MOH trailer shows of part of a single player campaign where players will reign fire down from a gunship. The landscape is beautiful and so is the destruction. Volleys of missiles and a train of machine gun fire......here we come
Medal of Honor Trailer "Gunfighters"
What are your thoughts on the Gunfighters trailer? Did it leave you impressed or depressed?
BattleStrats has gotten ahold of FIVE free PS3 download codes for Top Gun, the newest release developed by the award winning team at doublesix studio (Geometry Wars: Galaxies and Nucleus) and Paramount Digital Studios. This is not your average downloadable game, boys and girls. Normally .99 on PSN, Top Gun brings gamers a sequel of sorts to the original Top Gun movie starring Tom Cruise as "Maverick" and his companion "Goose". The movie ends around the graduation of flight school for the two pilots, and that's right where the game picks up. The script for the game was written by the same guy who wrote the original screenplay for the movie, so that guarantees a seamless transition from one media to the next.
That's not all. Top Gun features 7 different game modes, 5 of which are multiplayer. The two single player modes include the campaign, which will continue Mav's story in a fight against the Russian's and Horde mode, which pits gamers against waves of powerful enemies that get increasingly more difficult as time progresses. The five multiplayer modes with up to 16 gamers per match include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Top Gun, Capture the Flag, and Bombing Run.
Top Gun PS3 Gameplay Trailer:
Worth .99? Absolutely. But why pay when you can get it for FREE right here!
All you need to do to win is answer this question in the comment section below, here on BattleStrats:
What was the actors name who played Maverick's nemesis, Iceman, in the original Top Gun movie?
The 5 winners will be selected randomly at 8:30 PM EST and will be contacted immediately following the selections here on the site with the codes. Only registered members of BattleStrats can comment and win (don't worry, it's free and you'll join over 1,000 others).
EDIT: Due to the increase in interest and the desire for people to win codes, we are going to change the selection time to 8:30 PM EST. Giving people 30 extra minutes to enter for their chance to win!
EDIT #2: Also, we now have FIVE codes to give out! So we will be randomly selecting FIVE winners from the comments below that list the right answers!!!
FINAL EDIT: CONTEST HAS OFFICIALLY ENDED!!! THANKS TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR PRIVATE MESSAGES ON THE FORUMS WITHIN THE NEXT 10 MINUTES TO SEE IF YOU'VE WON!
Many of us got a chance to play the Halo: Reach Beta when it was out. To be specific, more than 2.7 million players participated in the Beta, which lasted from May 3 to May 20. When the beta went public, more than a million people played the first day, causing back-end servers to struggle to handle the traffic. While the engineering team overestimated server load, bugs in server clusters caused game uploads to become backed up, slowing matchmaking to a crawl until the underlying issues could be fixed. Bungie has confirmed that the 16 million total hours of play time and large-scale rollout of the game was vital to seeing how Reach would perform.
Now on to the BIG question. What has changed since the Beta?
A lot of the changes have been covered in prior articles. Some changes that have been disclosed recently are:
- Increased run speed
- Increased jump height
- Grenade damage and radius decreased and visual impact toned down
- No more rapid-spam for Armour Lock ability
- Armour Lock ability no longer drains opponent's shield when meleed.
- Shield recharge time slowed
- Encounter time increased
{parse block="storyblock"}Some of the other changes that have only just been disclosed are:
-Head shot characteristics for certain weapons have been tweaked
-The Elites shields take longer to recharge
-Invasion mode now gives each team a turn as an elite and a Spartan
Also thanks to the just released OXM Report that you can watch on your XBox Dashboard, we have confirmed some interesting details about Forge World. The movement controls of the editing tools are much improved, you have the option to change colors for certain bases and you have full control of team spawn locations.
Lastly the video we include below gives you an awesome preview of 2 new maps, the reimagined Ivory Tower and Zealot which is very similar to Midship from H2.
Enough with me trying to explain it, watch this video for the whole story.
Netherrealm Studios continues to tease us with screenshots, but this time, they've released a new trailer alongside the images. If you're a fan of Rock n Roll, you may recognize the song on the trailer as Disturbed's "Another Way to Die". I know, right now you're thinking to yourself, "that's the perfect song for a Mortal Kombat trailer", and you would be right. If after you watch the video below you're not not even more psyched for the return of the deadliest fighting game to hit the market, then check your pulse.
Mortal Kombat Shadow Trailer:
As far as the screenshots, there's nothing more than brutality and gore. I wish I could tell you that there were new characters being announced, but you'll just have to settle for new arenas. Here they are:
So there you have it. Another day of Mortal Kombat without actually being able to play it. TORTURE!!!
According to the popular UK magazine, PSM3, Batman: Arkham City will be adding a multiplayer mode to the series. This news will certainly bring some fans to the forefront kicking and screaming that multiplayer doesn't fit with this sort of Action/Adventure game, especially since the single player, Batman: Arkham Asylum succeeded without it. Rocksteady, the developer of the new Batman games, obviously feels that they need to make their way into the multiplayer arena: "Multiplayer is a certainty. Not details on this yet."
Rumors have been running rampart the past couple weeks that Catwoman will be a playable co-op character, fighting alongside The Caped Crusader throughout the campaign. These rumors began after the release of a previous GameInformer magazine which touted both action figures on the cover, which was featuring Arkham City. If these rumors are true, at least we won't have to deal with Robin, The Boy Wonder.
It should tell you something that gamers would rather play as a girl than Robin... hopefully Rocksteady knows that, too.
Batman: Arkham City is scheduled for release sometime next year, and is speculated to drop during the Fall months of 2011.
Growing up in the 90's the type of games there where to play on consoles where limited to either platformers, sports games, or RPG's. So it's no wonder that many of todays older gamers still feel that special spot in their heart when their favorite fighting franchises announce new games on current gen consoles. Earlier this month at Gamescom, a literal bomb was dropped when Yoshinori Ono from Capcom and Katsuhiro Harada from Namco stepped on stage together to announce that two of the gaming industries most storied franchises are coming toghether for one hell of a crossover. Street Fighter X Tekken developed by Capcom and Tekken X Street Fighter by Namco.
At this time Capcom is ahead in production and should release SXT some time mid 2011 and for you hardcore Tekken fans out there don't worry even though there are no screenshots at this time. TXS will be made in the traditional Tekken fashion meaning 3D arenas and no fireballs and should follow SXT a few months later.
Over the last couple of months it is safe to say that the majority of gamers have been bored out of their mind. Good games have been few and far between, but that is all about to change. The holiday season is fast approaching and that means that the clean up hitters are coming up to bat. Unless you are made of money, it's going to be difficult to decide what games to pick up and why. BattleStrats is here to break it down for you so you will know which games you need to purchase and which games to put on your wish list for Santa Claus.

RUSE - Ubisoft's latest attempt at a real time strategy game since Tom Clancy's Endwar. R.U.S.E will give strategy players the ability to trick their opponents with deception which will bring an entirely new concept to gamers. This however could be more confusing to gamers who may be new to the RTS genre and could turn away casual players. Will this be a game that a lot of your friends will be playing? Probably not - This game is going to be popular with a select group of gamers who are willing to spend a lot of time diving into the details and learning the ins and outs of the game. PC / PS3 / Xbox
{parse block="storyblock"}9/14/10
Halo Reach - Bungie's last farewell to the Halo Series. Anyone who owns an Xbox is well aware of the history surrounding Halo and how big this game will be. Will this be a game that most of your friends are playing? Yes - Halo Reach will feature co-op campaign and tons of features for multiplayer gaming. This is a relatively safe bet when it comes to getting your moneys worth. Bungie has a strong history of making great games and keeping them updated with fresh content and playlists. Xbox 360
9/17/10
Playstation Move - Motion gaming has been a huge hit for the WII. Sony's response is the PlayStation Move which will offer you motion control on some hardcore games - Something Wii and Kinect both lack. Several developers are announcing support for the Move so it should be a safe bet unless your 300 pounds and have trouble lifting your had to eat that Dorito. Playstation 3
10/12/10
Medal of Honor - EA's latest rendition of MOH places gamers inside modern day Afghanistan in the current conflict with the Taliban. The Medal of Honor series has suffered over the last several years and this is EA's attempt to reboot it. The multiplayer side is being headed up by DICE, the crew behind the Battlefield series. A beta was released earlier this summer and the overall feedback was lackluster at best. EA has responded by saying they took feedback from the beta and have completely reworked everything. This one could be a hit or miss with gamers - Several players still have a sour taste in their mouth from the lack of content and service that came from Battlefield Bad Company 2. MOH may be one of the biggest gambles this fall. PC / PS3 / Xbox
10/19/10
Fallout New Vegas - In 2008, Fallout was released and went on to win Game of the Year awards. The role playing game captivated gamers and held their attentions for hours on end. Fans of the Fallout game will be sure to want to pick up the latest game in the series New Vegas. PC / PS3 / Xbox
10/26/10
The Sims 3 - The Sims has captivated millions of players on the PC for years. This is the first time that console players will be able to experience the Sims and you better believe that this will be a hit. The question is, is this a game that will be a hit for your playing style? PS3 / Xbox
10/26/10
Fable 3 - Fable is an RPG series that is cherished by fans. Fable 3 promises to break away from Fable 2 and will let players dive deeper into Albion than you can possibly imagine. The game features many redesigned game mechanics and a much more in depth co-op system that can allow real life friends to marry in game and have kids. This could turn out to be interesting if real life husbands and wives refuse to marry their spouse in game, or even worse, marry someone else. Fable 3 should be on your list if you enjoy Role Playing Games. PC / Xbox 360
10/26/10
Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2 - This action adventure game is a must have for everyone who is a fan of Star Wars. The first game in the series was a hit and I know several fans are excited to see this one hit shelves. PC / PS3 / Xbox 360
10/26/10
Rock Band 3 - The game that allows players with no musical skills to become a Rock Star is jumping to the next level. The newest game brings a keyboard and guitar with real strings and proclaims it will teach the musically challenged how to play real instruments. What is better than having fun and learning something that could be valuable later on in life like a high school talent show? PS3 / Xbox 360
11/2/10
Gran Turismo 5 - One of the biggest names in racing is back with realistic racing and offering over 1,000 cars to play with. This is a series that racing fans have grown to love and is sure to be a huge hit on the Playstation 3. PS3 11/4/10
Kinect - Microsoft launches their answer for Wii and Playstation Move and turns your entire body into a controller. There are several concerns with Kinect - including latency, price, lack of hardcore games, and punching and kicking loved ones who happen to be standing in your living room. Microsoft has a lot to prove, but there is plenty of hype surrounding the Kinect device. This is another gamble for gamers and is hard to tell if this is going to be a hit. Kinect will be launching with several titles, but most of those currently are fitness games. Kinect will not be for the lazy gamer or the gamer who is afraid to look silly. Be sure to shut your blinds! Xbox 360

Call of Duty Black Ops - Who needs an introduction to this game? This is sure to be one of the most popular games this year and will be a safe bet for first person shooter fans of all backgrounds. With new features and co-op play this will be a game that just about everyone on your friends list will be playing. PC / PS3 / Xbox
11/16/10
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood - Assassin's Creed has built itself up to be a reputable series in a short amount of time. This time around there is a multiplayer component to up the ante. Fans of the previous action adventure game will want to be sure to pick this up. Coming out a week after Black Ops could be hard to overcome however, so this might be a game that you can pick up a few weeks after its release.PC / PS3 / Xbox

As you know, we've been keeping up with the BRINK developer diaries since day one, and today Splash Damage released their fourth edition called Endless Horizon. In the video featured below, you will hear the team talk about the hesitation for using the "cartoony" looking characters and how the project came together in the end to bring us a well designed world and a unique experience.
BRINK has unfortunately been delayed until next year, but apparently that was just done so that Splash Damage could release a new video dev diary every other week. Not that we're complaining....
Certainly an interesting view, whether you're a fan of the game or not. Kudos to Olivier for sticking with his idea and giving us something different in a first person shooter.
Well faithful BattleStrats users, we have been in contact with the Senior Community Manager for Crytek, the studio behind Crysis and the upcoming Crysis 2, and he has agreed to an interview of himself and a developer. So we're wracking our brains, trying to figure out good questions to ask, and then we came up with a great idea. We are going to have you decide what questions to ask so the interview will be catered to give you guys the information you want about the studio and the game.
So in the comment section below, please list any questions you would like to have answered relating to Crysis 2 or Crytek and we will go through and pick the best ones to ask. If you're not really in the sharing mood and simply feel like reading the answers to the questions when they arrive, be sure to check back soon for the article. Or maybe, Crysis 2 is not on your list of games to get next year (which would be a mistake, check trailer below) and you know nothing about it as a result. The world has been ravaged by a series of climatic disasters and society is on the verge of total breakdown. Now the aliens have returned, with a full invasion force bent on nothing less than the total annihilation of mankind, starting by trying to rip the heart out of Earth's most iconic city.
In New York, terrifying alien invaders stalk the streets and a nightmare plague strikes down the city's myriad inhabitants with brutal epidemic speed. The city's systems are in chaos, its streets and skyline are smashed and in flaming ruin. This is New York City like you've never seen it before.
Neither paramilitary law enforcement nor the might of the US military machine can stand against the invaders, and all who choose not to flee are dead men walking. Just to survive in this maelstrom of death will require technology beyond anything any modern soldier has ever seen.
One man will inherit that means to survive. One supersoldier, wielding the combat enhancement technology of the future with Nanosuit 2, will make the last stand to save humanity from destruction in the urban jungle that is New York City.

The economies of the globe are in turmoil, yet the bosses behind Xbox didn't seem to get that memo. Earlier today Major Nelson announced on his blog that starting November 1st, there will be price changes for Xbox Live Gold Subscriptions. No, they aren't taking the same road as PSN - Major Nelson goes on to state that this ONLY affects Xbox Live members in Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom and the United States. So thats ONLY like practically EVERYONE... As a thank you (before they screw you) Microsoft is giving their customers the opportunity to go ahead and renew their yearly Xbox Live subscription for .00. This offer expires October 31st so gamers have a few months before acting.
Let me start off by saying that if you are not watching HBO's original series Entourage you really should check it out. Loosely based on the life of movie star and executive producer of the show Mark Wahlberg, this hilarious series follows the lives of Vince Chase, a rising Hollywood star and his three friends from Queens, which include: Eric, his manager and best friend; Turtle, his driver/house manager and friend; and Drama, his half-brother and fellow actor. Rounding out the group is Vince's agent, Ari Gold and his lovable assistant, Lloyd.
Turtle, who happens to be my favorite character, has shown a fondness of gaming and in one episode he entered an XBox boxing tournament only to get schooled in a matter of seconds in the first round by a nine year-old. He justified his loss saying the kid was a beta tester for the game.
In tonight's newest episode Turtle is seen playing Kinect Sports. Pretty clever marketing Microsoft. Showing off their goodies 2 months before the release of the Kinect on a hit TV show can't hurt sales.
Check out the clip yourself. We also included some footage of our hands on with Kinect Sports this past June at E3.
I have had the pleasure of buying and playing through every Halo game to date. I know gamers who absolutely adore it and I also know of those who despise the game. Personally as far as the game is concerned, I find it enjoyable for short periods of time. Online it is probably my worst game as far as skill goes. I am easily frustrated by the 10 year old teabaggers and the unbelievable no scope deaths from a sniper rifle (that I suck at using). The campaign is enjoyable yet I cannot regurgitate all of the storyline or give anyone intricate details on the planet names, characters etc.
Halo Reach is not important to just fans of the series however. The repercussions of the game "reach" far greater than the Halo fan base. Whether you like Halo the game or not, Bungie is a developer that should be a role model to other developers in the future.
The Web Factor: Heading over to Bungie.net will leave your eyes bleeding from all of the content and features that the Halo Website offers players. Check your game stats, achievements, learn everything about the Halo Universe, purchase merchandise and much more. Bungie has done a terrific job of staying in contact with their customers and providing loads of information in the form of Podcasts and Bungie Weekly Updates. Interacting and staying in contact with your fans is something other developers should take note of.
Ban Hammer: Leaderboards on most games are usually topped off with illegitimate stats and known glitchers and cheaters. Bungie is one of the few developers I have seen to take such drastic steps to ensure cheaters are perma-banned and glitches are almost obsolete. This is one game where you will never get messages from kids wanting money to boost your account. Cheaters ruin so many games online, and the majority of the time developers just turn a blind eye to the problem. Developers take note, you put in hundreds of hours creating your game - don't let some jackass ruin your work so they can be at the top of a leaderboard that means nothing. Halo Reach is going to take things to the next level and deal with those players who are chronic quitters when they start losing. Would love to see this implemented more in games! {parse block="GAD"} Matchmaking: How many multiplayer games have you seen where all you want to do is play with your friends and you are left with frustration? The matchmaking in Halo is one of the best gamers can experience. Want to search games by skill? connection? Want to party up with strangers who seem cool after a game? Whether you have a party of 2, 4, 8 - doesn't matter. There is a playlist that you can enjoy the game with your friends on. The entire multiplayer experience is based off your interactions with other human beings. Why can't other developers learn that matchmaking is such a huge component of multiplayer games and learn from Bungie. On top of the matchmaking system lies the playlists that are constantly monitored and updated to kill unpopular playlists and add new ones with different variants to keep things fresh and feeling new. Halo Reach will be implementing a new matchmaking system for co-op campaign. Co-op FTW!!!
Theatre: How many times have you been playing a game and had a moment that you wish you could relive, or see how in the world your opponent was able to kill you? Maybe you had an unbelievable game and want to simply share it with your friends. The theatre feature in Halo lets players relive these moments in game and allows one to save and share these moments with their friends. This is a fantastic feature and it looks as though other games are starting to take notice. In a recent trailer from Call of Duty: Black Ops, they showed a screenshot that suggests Black Ops will also have a built in recorder functionality.
Forge World: Multiplayer can really only stay as fresh as the variety that a game can allow. Playing the same maps and game types day in and day out will eventually wear on the majority of the population. When Forge was introduced to Halo, it allowed gamers to take their imagination and run wild. Players can build their very own custom maps and game types by using very simple and easy to use tools. Designing a level has been taken from an office building and delivered into the homes of millions of gamers. Not only does Bungie allow users to create new maps and game modes, but players can also share those creations with their friends. Halo Reach is going to even incorporate some of these great creations in new playlists for the community. How much life could have been pumped into a game like Battlefield 2 if you were able to create your own maps by using a similar setup?
Without even talking about the in game mechanics, armor customizations, ranking system - at the end of the day, the bottom line is SUPPORT. Throughout the years, Bungie has supported the gamers and that's why so many gamers support Bungie. September 14th, I will be picking up Halo Reach and I know that I will be buying a game that will have support from its developers. Whether you are a Halo fan or not, let's hope that more game creators start paying attention to why certain games succeed and take notes on how to support their customers.
I have seen many different types of contests involving video games but this one is far one of the most "loco" I have ever heard of. Square Enix recently announced Gun Loco, an all-new approach to the third person shooter genre, is currently in development exclusively for the Xbox 360. The game offers single and multiplayer gameplay in a sprint-action shooter format and allows players to take on the role of unique and memorable characters as they attempt to escape a prison planet.
Check out this trailer to see for yourself why it is so "loco".
Now onto the contest. You have to become a member of the Square Enix members site to participate in this contest. Registering is relatively painless. Square Enix details the contest:
Quote
Ever wanted to be a part of a video game? Do you love music? Well here is your chance to be a part of a Square Enix game with our GUN LOCO™ music contest. It takes one parts skill and two parts passion so listen up! When the contest opens on September 9, grab up the base music and the Lyric sheet, take a long hard listen and read, and then go and make it your own! Send us your best shot at making this song yours and you could be a part of GUN LOCO by having your song as the stage music for one of the levels.
Entries should be sent in by October 4, 2010 so HURRY UP! 'Cause opportunities like this don't happen very often!
The grand prize winner will receive:
- A trip for two to Los Angeles to get your song professionally recorded
- The professional recording of your song featured as stage music for one of the levels in GUN LOCO
- Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system
- A copy of the game
- Xbox LIVE® 12-Month Gold Membership
...AND MORE!!!!
Do I have any singing talent? Absolutely not. Will I be submiting a music video to this contest? You better believe it! From reading the above quote it sounds like passion and originality are more important than talent so keep that in mind when you rock out for your own video.
Check out the BattleStrats forums after September 9th to see our member created videos that will be submitted for a good laugh.
GUN LOCO will be available in 2011 on Xbox 360.

One of the biggest complaints about Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days was the short length of the campaign. While the story was very intriguing and action filled, even the most slow paced gamer could complete the campaign in under 5 hours.
BattleStrats decided to do the unthinkable and shorten the campaign even more. Down to 52 minutes to be exact. For those of you who felt that 5 hours was too long to play to be told the tale of gaming's most notorious criminal duo, we have weaved together scenes of gameplay, cutscenes and important dialouge into a movie shorter than your average episode of Law & Order.
The best part is we did all the work so you can just sit back and enjoy the show. Don't forget to send the kiddies to bed though as this would definitely rate NC-17 and not appropriate for the little guys.
So sit back with some popcorn and a cold one and get ready to be entertained.
Once again folks we are a site for gamers by gamers and I have received a couple of requests for a Quick Scope No Scope public ladder.
So with that being said I would like to get all of your input on what you would like to see on this ladder and to determine if there is enough interest to support a public ladder!!
Please feel free to respond and give you suggestions!! If we get enough support and suggestions I will make a public ladder!!

I like to take this time to congratulate the top 3 of our 2nd Season of Magic The Gathering Ladder.
3rd place goes to OnlineToughguy with a record of 13-5. Well done!
2nd place goes to SirWalrick with a record of 7-2. Great Job!
1st place goes to yours truly [TA]Ghost with a record of 12-1.
All in all a good season. I might go another way with this game in forms of tournaments as this ladder always seems to have a strong start and then it dies off at end. I'm always open to any ideas someone might have.
